It All Began with A Vision
Ceylon Tea is globally renowned for its distinctive taste and aroma, driving a strong demand for its unparalleled premium quality. Unfortunately, this has led to other corporations to undermine the esteemed Ceylon Tea brand, heritage, and most importantly its quality.
Our Founder Dr. Lionel Samayawardhena, an avid tea consumer, discovered a lack of Premium Ceylon Tea in the global market. He found that most brands lacked the complex and distinct flavor profiles and aromas due to them combining Sri Lanka’s high quality leafs with lower quality ones from other countries. Dissatisfied by the distilled tea offerings, he decided to take matters into his own hands and founded Royal Ceylon.
